Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant for K-5 to support teachers with high-quality curricula and to reinforce lessons one-on-one or in small groups. The TA maintains a safe, orderly classroom, tracks attendance, and enters student data into school systems.

Responsibilities include preparing classroom materials, creating displays, guiding students, and assisting with data entry and progress notes. Certification and fingerprint clearance are required by NYS.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Enrollment in a teacher preparation program is preferred.
• Prior experience working with elementary aged children preferred.
• New York State Certification in Level I, II or III Teaching Assistant required.
• NY State Department of Education fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in setting up and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom.
• Creates and maintains bulletin board displays inside and outside the classroom.
• Manages and secures all materials in the classroom environment.
• Works with individual children or groups on instructional projects as planned by the teacher.
• Uses and promotes positive guidance and behavior management techniques.
• Assists teachers with conferring with students.
• Communicates observations or concerns regarding students’ progress to the teacher.
