Job summary

Great Hearts Forest Heights Lower School is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant for grades K-5 to support students in general and special education settings. The role collaborates with certified teachers and other staff to implement instructional modifications and behavior support plans.

Responsibilities include small group and 1:1 assistance, adapting materials, and reinforcing classroom rules while maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interest in reading great books.
• Experience in special education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports students in small groups or 1:1.
• Assists students with assignments, homework, projects.
• Adapts materials and provides modifications for learning.
• Reinforces classroom rules and supports behavior.
• Monitors student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions.
• Implements behavior management strategies and SDI concepts.
• Assists with transitions and activities throughout the day.
• Provides clerical support for the ESS Team and maintains organization.
