Job summary

Great Hearts Academies seeks a dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant (K-5) at the Monte Vista South campus in San Antonio, TX. You will support students in both general education and SPED resource settings under certified teachers, ensuring a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities include small-group and 1:1 support, modifications to materials, and behavior and transitions support.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or higher.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Interest in reading great books.
• Educational Aide certification I-III preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students in small groups or 1:1.
• Assist with assignments, homework, projects.
• Adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn.
• Reinforce classroom rules and behaviors.
• Monitor student safety and appropriate interactions.
• Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and collaborate with teachers.
• Attend meetings and training sessions; provide clerical support.
