A public school district in Cambridge is seeking a Summer Science Teacher for the CPS SOARS! program, running from July 1 to July 31, 2026. Description of Service Opportunity

The CPS SOARS! program is a four‑week summer learning experience for current grade K‑4 students with demonstrated academic need. Each classroom will have one teacher, one paraprofessional, and up to 15 students.

The Summer Science Teacher will provide grade‑specific science enrichment classes on a rotating schedule throughout the week to students in the CPS SOARS! Camp.

The CPS Summer Science teacher, under the direction of the Executive Director of Academics, will be responsible for:

• Providing a fun, safe, theme‑based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students;
• Collaborating with program principals and instructional staff to design lessons that align with district‑provided curriculum;
• Facilitating grade‑appropriate art projects and activities for students.

Program Logistics

Dates: May 1–June 30, 2025. 15 hours of orientation, program planning, and curriculum training. Specific dates communicated with job offer. July 6–31, 2026 (CPS SOARS! Program).

Time: 10:00–3:00 p.m. (teacher work day, July)

Location(s): Morse Elementary School.

Minimum Requirements

Teachers must have the ability to teach students with a range of learning needs in multi‑age classrooms. MA DESE licensure in Visual Arts, English as a Second Language, and/or Moderate Disabilities preK‑8 preferred. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.

Not exceed $5750.00

Hourly Rate and Overtime

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non‑exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
