Job summary

Upper Moreland Township School District seeks a K-3 Literacy Coach for a grant-funded 3-year term. The role leads instructional coaching, professional learning, and data-driven literacy initiatives across K3 to strengthen evidence-based Structured Literacy practices.

The coach partners with teachers and district leaders to align instruction, assessment, and MTSS supports, with a focus on LETRS implementation and scalable internal capacity building.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist certification.
• Valid Pennsylvania instructional certification.
• Successful elementary teaching experience with literacy expertise.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Literacy and science of reading.
• Experience planning and leading professional development for educators.
• Experience analyzing literacy data to inform instruction.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Provide sustained, job-embedded coaching to K3 teachers through modeling, demonstration lessons, co-teaching, collaborative planning, observation, feedback, reflection, and goal setting to strengthen evidence-based literacy instruction and build teacher capacity.
• Support consistent implementation of Structured Literacy and the science of reading, including explicit, systematic instruction in phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, encoding, fluency, vocabulary, oral language, and comprehension.
• Reinforce LETRS learning and translate current literacy research into effective daily instruction.
• Design, facilitate, and evaluate professional learning for individuals, teams, schools, and the District; lead collaborative planning and PLCs.
• Support teachers in administering, analyzing, and applying universal screening, diagnostic, progress-monitoring, classroom, and student-work data to differentiate instruction.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, reading specialists, interventionists, and administrators to strengthen alignment among Tier 1 instruction and MTSS supports.
• Support implementation of the District's K3 literacy vision and curriculum across classrooms and grade levels.
• Collaborate with leadership to review and implement core literacy programs and resources.
• Serve as an instructional thought partner and literacy resource for teachers and administrators.
• Monitor and evaluate impact of coaching via student data and coaching participation.
• Maintain documentation for district, state, and grant reporting requirements.
