Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Schools invites applications for an Early Literacy Coach. The Literacy Coach will assist principals and classroom teachers in assessment, instructional grouping, selecting texts, teaching reading and writing strategies, and delivering professional development.

The role requires a 40-hour week with a flexible schedule funded through the KISD Early Literacy Grant. The position reports to the ELA Curriculum Supervisor and works within the Curriculum Team to improve literacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and current Michigan teaching certification.
• Minimum of four years of effective teaching.
• Knowledge of current state literacy standards for pupils in grades K-3.

Responsibilities

• Assist principals and teachers with assessment and instructional grouping.
• Support teachers with reading and writing strategies and differentiated instruction.
• Provide ongoing professional development on literacy practices.
• Coordinate and participate in professional learning and coaching activities.
• Attend grant-related activities and implement approved coaching models.
