Job summary

Alpha is hiring Academic Coaches to join a full-time on-site team at a Malibu campus. You will guide K-3 students through app-based core learning, spot where they are stuck, and run short diagnostic sessions to close literacy gaps.

You lead morning launch, literacy workshops, and daily routines, staying with your students from launch to closing. A bachelor’s degree and structured-literacy training are required; relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of direct work with children ages 4-9: coaching, teaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar settings.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3, within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training: LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading, or similar; or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor's degree; a teaching certificate is not required.
• Willing to work on-site at a campus listed above with relocation support.

Responsibilities

• Get every K-3 student to their daily learning goals, and close the reading gaps stopping them from getting there alone.
• Lead short structured-literacy sessions with two to four students, diagnose a phonics or decoding gap, teach a designed sequence, and check transfer.
• Lead morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities that keep six-year-olds moving.
• Drive students to weekly app goals with school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Stay with your students through lunch, recess, and closing, planning for the frustrated child.
