Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher with Alabama instructional exceptionality certification to join our team. You will administer assessments, plan IEPs, and implement individualized instruction while coordinating with families, support agencies, and staff.

You will work with Teacher Interns and other professionals to ensure compliance with state guidelines and provide quality educational services.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to program implementation and participation.
• Ability to interpret assessment data and group students for individualized instruction.
• Effective oral and written communication to meet IEP requirements and coordinate with parents and staff.
• Physical and emotional ability to work in a fast-paced educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Administers educational achievement tests to assess students’ levels of competencies and needs.
• Schedules annual IEP meetings and coordinates related services.
• Develops IEP goals, objectives and timelines with related services and transitions.
• Employs varied instructional techniques to meet individual student needs.
• Collaborates with regular education teachers to monitor participation and provide remediation materials.
• Maintains records and submits reports as required; communicates progress to families and agencies.
