Kearsley Community Schools is seeking a dedicated coordinator to provide structured student support, mentorship, attendance intervention, and behavioral guidance across the district.

The role focuses on students who benefit from additional structure and connection, including those in alternative learning settings, to ensure academic progress and successful reintegration into regular classrooms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Family and Community Services, Social Work, or related field required.
• Experience with middle school/high school students in various roles.
• Ability to build positive student relationships with appropriate boundaries.
• Calm, consistent and professional when working with challenged students.
• Commitment to student belonging, accountability and academic success.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students temporarily in an alternative learning setting.
• Maintain a safe, structured environment aligned with school expectations.
• Communicate with teachers about assignments and expectations.
• Help students reflect on behavior and plan for future success.
• Assist with transition plans back to regular classrooms.
• Provide mentoring and targeted support for attendance/behavior/engagement.
• Develop positive relationships while reinforcing school expectations.
• Coordinate with families and staff to address barriers to attendance.
• Conduct student check-ins and follow up on absenteeism patterns.
• Support attendance initiatives and collaborate with school teams.
• Document structured student support activities and outcomes.
