Job summary

Amergis is hiring a Special Education Teacher in Maine. The role supports students from kindergarten through grade 12 and works under the Special Education Program Administrator to plan and implement individualized programs.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, a valid state teaching certificate, and state certifications. LBS1 endorsement is preferred; CPR and health-related certificates may be required. 18+ years old, with 1 year teaching experience preferred; benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• The Special Education Teacher provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator.
• The role includes team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
