Job summary

You will collaborate with teachers to design interventions, participate in PPTs, and help develop IEPs, with a focus on inclusive practices and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• State of Ohio Certification as a Special Education Teacher.
• Bachelor's degree in education applicable to teaching assignment.
• Master's Degree in Special Education.
• Successful prior special education teaching experience for appropriate grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses creative, engaging and universally designed lessons to provide intervention to learners.
• Attends weekly open offices with the compliance specialist to review data for students;
• Enters weekly Progress Monitoring data points in Illuminate
• Co-creates standards-based interventions and works with classroom teacher to create support structures in Math, Science and ELA per grade level;
• Attends Teacher Based Team meetings and Design Lab sessions;
• Emails communication to Curriculum Department personnel ;
• Takes ownership for student's academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations and showing active interest in student's achievement;
• Analyzes student data to support evidence of instructional support decisions
• Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for identifying learning issues and recommending actions
• Participates in PPT's and assists in developing IEPs for students.
• Assists students and teaching staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans.
• Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.
• Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff to ascertain individual student abilities and needs;
• Serves as ready resource to students and parents to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings;
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate records and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers;
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Assists in the orientation of new teachers, and provides in-service training in guidance.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
