Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff within school settings. You will interpret instruction, facilitate communication, and work with teachers to adapt lessons to students’ language levels.

The role requires collaboration, strong linguistic skills, and adherence to professional conduct, RID guidelines, and state requirements. This position is based in Colorado and involves on-site duties.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• Associate's degree required.
• Two years of professional work experience in sign language or interpreting in an educational setting.
• Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Educational Interpreter Authorization
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Advanced knowledge of Deaf culture
• RID/PIER codes awareness and professional conduct

Responsibilities

• Ensure Deaf/Hard of Hearing students receive and understand communication in all educational settings via the interpreting process.
• Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to facilitate signing interpretation and environmental feedback.
• Determine best distance, lighting, and viewing angle for student viewing.
• Participate in IEP meetings and ensure interpreting is provided by another interpreter if needed.
• Provide tutoring and reinforce concepts for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
