Job summary

Cherry Creek Schools is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff. You will facilitate communication in classrooms and collaborate with special and general education teachers to adapt instruction and remove barriers to learning.

The role requires ASL proficiency, knowledge of Deaf culture, strong interpersonal and translating skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic school setting.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• Associate's degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Two years of sign language or interpreting experience in education.
• CDOE Educational Interpreter Authorization or equivalent.
• Basic office equipment & Microsoft Office knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of Deaf culture and ASL.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Deaf/Hard of Hearing students receive and understand information through interpretation.
• Collaborate with teachers to facilitate signing interpretation and feedback.
• Assist with behavior and social engagement for students across settings.
• Provide tutoring and translate/in-transliterate for class lessons.
• Support IEP meetings and ensure interpreters are available as needed.
