Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• Associate's degree required.
• Two years of professional work exp in sign language or interpreting in education.
• CDE Educational Interpreter Authorization required.
• Basic knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Advanced Deaf culture knowledge and signing proficiency.
• RID Code of Professional Conduct familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Deaf/Hard of Hearing students receive and understand communication through interpreting.
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to facilitate signing and feedback.
• Determine best viewing distance, lighting, and angle for student access.
• Attend IEP meetings and provide interpreting services as needed.
• Support student literacy and participation in classes.
