Qualifications

• High school diploma with a passing score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EI I).
• Associate’s degree in Educational Interpreting with a passing EI II score.
• Bachelor’s degree in Educational Interpreting with a passing EI II score.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a support for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to enhance program success.
• Facilitates communication between the student, peers, and adults in school.
• Studies lesson content prior to class to ensure accurate representation.
• Tutores students who are deaf or hard of hearing under teacher direction.
• Provides feedback to teachers on request.
• Serves as liaison to promote positive relationships within the school.
• May teach beginning sign language to students and/or staff.
• Performs other related work as directed.
