Job summary

Midwest City - Del City School District Special Services seeks a Deaf Education Interpreter to ensure effective communication for deaf students within classrooms served by the district. This role emphasizes interpreting, tutoring, and collaboration with teachers and staff to support IDEA-compliant services.

The position is non-exempt and safety-sensitive, with immediate starting date and ongoing CEU requirements to maintain certification.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Oklahoma State Department of Education educational interpreter registry.
• QAST 3 or above or EIPA 3.5 or above or National certification.
• Interpreter must meet CEU requirements: 10 hours annually (5 education-related, 1 Ethics).

Responsibilities

• Provide formal and informal interpreting between deaf students and hearing staff and peers.
• Tutoring, extra explanation, and rephrasing to clarify concepts.
• Prepare in advance by reviewing lesson content and materials for accurate communication.
