Job summary

Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Olympia, WA seeks a Program Supervisor for PE/Health to provide K-12 leadership, guidance, and resource development for PE, Health, and CSHE. The role manages programs, standards, and statewide professional development to support equity and high-quality education.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with a balance of in-office collaboration and telework; travel is expected for site visits, trainings, or conferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in PE, Health or education, educational administration, or related area is required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of K-12 experience in PE or Health as a teacher or within the educational field.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and commitment to provide public sector leadership around the agency’s anti-racist objectives.
• Demonstrated good judgment and empathy to communicate and collaborate across cultures effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking to address and resolve complex issues.
• Experience writing and developing curriculum, instructional resources, or professional development modules related to PE and Health, assessment, graduation requirements or related topics.

Responsibilities

• Provide statewide leadership for Physical Education, Health, and CSHE by aligning systems and policies to expand equitable access to high-quality learning.
• Oversee initiatives from policy development to implementation, ensuring compliance and risk management.
• Lead revision and rollout of learning standards and build statewide capacity through professional learning and guidance on inclusive materials.
• Foster partnerships across state agencies, educational organizations, and stakeholders to inform policy and implementation.
• Contribute to legislative analysis and reporting, maintain clear communication, and use data to drive continuous improvement.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in PE, Health or education, educational administration, or related area

Master’s degree or higher in area related to (PE/Health/education, educational administration or related area)
