Job summary

Summit Public Schools in Washington is seeking a Physical Education Teacher for the candidate pool (SY26-27). You will help students develop physical literacy through a project‑based PE program aligned with Summit’s educational model.

You will work with a mission‑driven team in a culturally responsive environment, focusing on equitable outcomes and continuous improvement. Collaboration and mentorship are core to the role.

Qualifications

• Commitment to uphold Summit’s values and to ensure all students receive a rigorous, equitable education.
• Strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
• Teaching Credential in Washington or another US state.
• Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree in Education preferred but not required.
• Clear health and background check.
• Teaching experience in your subject is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach 90-minute blocks in high school or four 55-minute blocks in middle school during Project Time.
• Teach one course for the entire grade and see each section twice per week.
• Provide deep learning experiences that apply content to real-world situations.
• Analyze student data, build lesson plans, and support school culture and personal development.
• Build lesson plans based on student progress data to tailor supports.
• Mentor a small group of mentees daily, coaching and advocating for their growth.
• Facilitate Self-Directed Learning time and interventions; monitor progress.
• Participate in all-faculty after-school meetings twice weekly for collaboration and PD.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Teaching Credential (Washington or another US state)

Master’s Degree in Education (preferred)
