Job summary

Region 16 ESC is seeking an Information Security Specialist in Amarillo, Texas to support its security team and partner LEAs. The role focuses on network and data security, policy development, and security education.

You will work with Office 365 and cloud platforms, plan training, and help implement patching and risk mitigation across the district’s environments.

Immediate starting date, travel as needed, and collaborative, service-oriented work culture are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification required.
• CompTIA PenTest+ preferred.
• Industry-recognized network certification preferred (e.g., CCNA).
• Industry-recognized OS certification preferred (e.g., Microsoft, Linux).

Responsibilities

• Assist Information Security Team and LEAs with Cybersecurity Services.
• Help plan and manage annual cybersecurity awareness training.
• Serve as technical resource on hardware/software security and firewall management.
• Assist in cybersecurity risk assessments and remediation planning.
• Contribute to internal/external vulnerability scans and remediation.
• Oversee Office 365 tenant and Exchange security configurations.
• Collaborate on patching and update procedures with stakeholders.
• Support enterprise security document creation (policies, standards, baselines).
• Stay current on information security technologies and regulatory environments.
