Job summary

McGraw Hill in California is seeking a K-12 Academic Coach to support teachers and district leadership through professional development, curriculum alignment, and evidence-based instructional practices. This role emphasizes collaboration and strategic planning to improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.

Hybrid work arrangement with travel up to 75%. The position requires CA residency and offers a competitive pay range plus medical and other benefits.

Qualifications

Valid teaching certification with 5+ years in K-12 education.
Expertise in curriculum development, instructional coaching, and assessment practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in educational technology, data analysis, and professional development tools.
Ability to build trust and foster collaboration among teachers, administrators, and stakeholders.
Knowledge of state and national education standards (Common Core or similar).
Experience in designing and delivering professional development programs.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing district needs.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized coaching to teachers, focusing on instructional strategies, classroom management, and differentiation techniques.
Facilitate professional development sessions aligned with district goals and state standards.
Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching practices.
Support teachers in integrating technology, data-driven instruction, and innovative teaching tools.
Assist educators in addressing diverse student needs, including those requiring intervention or enrichment.
Work with district leadership to develop and implement curriculum frameworks, instructional policies, and assessment strategies.
Analyze district-wide data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in teaching and learning.
Coordinate district-wide PLCs and collaborative teaching models.
Serve as a resource for district administrators in planning and executing school improvement strategies.
Act as a liaison between schools, district leadership, and external partners.
Communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders, including parents, school boards, and community members.
Advocate for resources and support to enhance teacher effectiveness and student achievement.
