Job summary

Scottsdale USD 48 is seeking a dedicated coach to mentor student athletes, teaching game strategies, safety, and sportsmanship. The role emphasizes developing individual skills and team cohesion.

Responsibilities include organizing practices, evaluating players, coordinating with parents, monitoring academics for eligibility, and upholding district athletic policies and NFHS certification requirements where applicable.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assists with organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
• Assists with assessment of players' skills and assigning team positions.
• Assists with developing a regular practice schedule and organizing practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observes players during competition and practice and reports needs for improvement to Head Coach.
• Assists with determining game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
• Maintains standards of student athlete behavior and supervision of athletes.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility and encourages high academic standards.
• Follows procedures for athlete injuries.
• Conferences with parents regarding athletic performance as needed.
• Follows district and state regulations governing the athletic program.
• Models sportsmanlike conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and uniforms; performs care and requisitioning as needed.
• Participates in activities such as parent’s night, banquets, awards, and pep assemblies.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency info, insurance records, equipment inventory and other related records.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Potentially transports athletes using district buses and provides proof of insurance as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.
