Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid DPS Arizona FPCC required.
• NFHS Level I Certification required (Concussion in Sports, Fundamentals of Coaching, etc.).
• NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certification recommended.
• NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety Certification / CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
• Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time for individual and team development.
• Schedules facilities for practices and competition with athletics director.
• Coaches and instructs players on rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observes players to determine needs for improvement.
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintains student behavioral standards and proper supervision of athletes.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility; encourages strong academics.
