Job summary

The County of Bergen's Division of Family Guidance seeks a Psychiatric Social Worker to provide psychiatric and social services to youth in detention or shelter and to their families and caregivers. Under supervision, you will interview clients, perform psychosocial assessments, coordinate with psychiatrists, and prepare reports.

Requires a Master's in Social Work and LSW; bilingual English–Spanish preferred; strong communication; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work.
• Two years of experience in psychiatric social work preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Organizes tasks concerned with social problems of clients.
• Participates in case management and supervision meetings.
• Confers with psychiatrists and other professionals relevant to a client's treatment.
• Interviews clients, families, and others to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Provides social work services to help clients adjust and interviews relatives and others.
• Formulates psychosocial diagnosis and assists in evaluating social data.
• Prepares reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Maintains records and files.
