Job summary

County of Bergen is seeking a Social Work Supervisor for the Division of Family Guidance. You will supervise clinicians and case workers, provide group/individual therapy, and conduct intake, assessments, and treatment planning for at-risk youth and families.

The role requires LCSW and supervision credential, bilingual English–Spanish preferred, and strong MS Office skills; some evenings and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counseling or related field.
  • Two years of social work experience involving gathering social information, assessing needs, and planning treatment or service plans.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff consisting of clinicians and case workers from varied disciplines.
  • Provide group and/or individual therapy for at-risk youth.
  • Conduct individual supervision and staff meetings.
  • Conduct intake and assessments of at-risk youth and families as required.
  • Compose treatment/intervention plans aligned with evidence-informed practices.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Collect, analyze and report on relevant program statistics.
  • Compile data and reports for grants and contracts.
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload of clients and perform related duties.

Social Work Supervisor

Division of Family Guidance – Department of Human Services

Organizational Overview:

The Bergen County Division of Family Guidance provides clinical, residential, educational, correctional, case management, and monitoring services to at-risk children, adolescents, and families, particularly those who are otherwise unable to receive needed services. Through its more than 30 programs, it is Bergen County's resource for youth and families in need.

Job Description:

This employment opportunity is to serve as the Social Work Supervisor for the Division of Family Guidance. Under direction of a supervisory official, supervises a group of professional and paraprofessional social service staff involved inthe identification of complex social problems and the administration of social service programs designed to assist active, former, and potential welfare clients; does other related duties as required.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise staff consisting of clinicians and case workers from varied disciplines.
  • Provide group and/or individual therapy for at-risk youth.
  • Conduct individual supervision and staff meetings.
  • Conduct intake and assessments of at-risk youth and families as required.
  • Compose treatment / intervention plans consistent with evidence informed practices as required.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Collect, analyze and report on relevant program statistics.
  • Collect and compose data and reports as required by grants and contracts.
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload of clients and provide other work related responsibilities as required.
Schedule:
  • Full time (40 hours/week)
  • Some evening hours may be required based on specific position assignment.
  • On call as required. (two evenings minimum)
  • Overtime as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Guidance and Counseling or other field related to social work or social services.
  • Two (2) years of social work experience involving gathering social information from clients, determining their needs, and planning and carrying out treatment plans and/or service plans geared to individual client needs.
Other Requirements:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Clinical Social Work Supervision Certificate.
  • Bilingual English – Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position.

Salary: $72,000 / per annum
