Job summary

Bergen County Division of Family Guidance seeks a Psychiatric Social Worker to provide psychiatric and social services for youth in juvenile detention centers and shelters, along with families and stakeholders. The role involves collaboration with clinicians, conducting client interviews, and developing psychosocial diagnoses within a supervisory framework.

The position requires an MSW and an active LSW license, with bilingual English–Spanish being preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) required.
• Bilingual English–Spanish preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Two years of psychiatric social work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize tasks related to social problems of clients.
• Attend weekly case management and supervision meetings.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other professionals for client treatment.
• Interview clients and families to gather data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Provide social work services to help clients achieve suitable adjustments.
• Formulate psychosocial diagnoses and collaborate on data analysis.
• Prepare reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
