Job summary

The State of Georgia is seeking a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II in Covington, GA to support rehabilitation of offenders under supervision. Under general supervision, you will assess progress, recommend actions, and coordinate education and employment stipulations.

You will interview probationers, administer drug tests, prepare case files, and testify in court as needed. A related associate degree or equivalent experience is required with P.O.S.T. certification within six months.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; two (2) years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting.
• Or four (4) years of direct case management job-related experience working with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting.
• Or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or position equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and compliance with probation contracts and rehabilitation plans.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action in response to non-compliance.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests, including random drug screens.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for assigned offenders.
• Discuss issues such as drug/alcohol abuse and anger management with offenders.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements and stipulations.
• Write reports describing offenders’ progress and conduct investigations.
