Job summary

State of Georgia's Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II in Coweta CSO & HITS, Newnan, GA. This role provides social services to rehabilitate offenders in custody or on probation under general supervision.

Responsibilities include interviewing offenders, evaluating progress, administering tests, and preparing detailed reports to guide sentences and rehabilitation plans. A POST certification is required within six months.

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus 2 years in a human services setting or 4 years direct case management with offenders.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia POST certification within the first 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees to evaluate progress and compliance with rehabilitation plans.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests to verify treatment program compliance.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for assigned offenders.
• Explain recovery and rehabilitation factors influencing behavior to offenders.
• Conduct pre-hearing investigations and testify in court about offenders’ backgrounds.
