Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is seeking an entry level specialist to provide case management coordination for youth referred to DJJ. This role includes assessment, interviewing, planning, monitoring, advocacy, direct supervision, and intervention.

You will work with youth, families and service providers, ensuring compliance with court orders and developing comprehensive supervision plans to support successful community re-entry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science or its equivalent.
• Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations pertaining to juvenile offenders and the juvenile justice system.
• Ability to organize and maintain a caseload.
• Strong interviewing and fact-gathering skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary case manager for youth referred to DJJ.
• Interviews juveniles, family members and service providers to assess needs.
• Monitors juvenile for compliance with court orders.
• Develops comprehensive needs-based case management plan.
• Advocates for youth and families to access services.
• Maintains JJMS data entry and documents.
• Promotes restorative justice practices to address harm.
• Promotes job-related training and professional development.
• Conducts other duties as assigned, required, or requested.
• Must be able to drive and travel throughout the state.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
