Job summary

Jefferson County seeks a Detention Facility Support role to supervise same sex juvenile detainees and help maintain a safe, secure environment. Responsibilities include intake, daily checks, meals, and assisting with programs while reporting any security or medical concerns.

Applicants should be prepared for shift work (days, evenings, nights), with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a high-stress setting; 21+ and CPR certification eligibility are noted in standard

Qualifications

• Requires 1–2 years of college coursework toward a degree in behavioral sciences, sociology, criminal justice or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; 6 months to 1 year of on-the-job training and/or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-going supervision and hourly checks of juveniles; observe, report and address safety, emotional or medical concerns.
• Conduct intake for juveniles; issue clothing, linens and hygiene supplies; prepare juveniles for court.
• Assist with meals, food prep and serving; enforce safety, security and cleanliness throughout the facility.
• Attend shift change meetings; complete paperwork such as confinement and incident reports.
