Job summary

Jefferson County in Beaumont, TX seeks an individual to assist in supervising same-sex juveniles in a detention facility, ensuring a safe, secure environment and addressing the needs of juvenile detainees.

The role includes hourly supervisory rounds, intake processing, meal service, and participation in academic and recreational programs. Candidates should have 1–2 years of relevant education, some related experience, and be able to obtain CPR certification within six months.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of college toward completion of a degree in behavioral sciences, sociology, criminal justice or related field.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of on-the-job training and/or previous related experience preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• CPR certification within 6 months of employment.
• Health certificate for preparation and serving of food upon request.

Responsibilities

• Supervise same sex juveniles and conduct hourly checks to monitor safety and behavior.
• Observe for security, safety, emotional, and medical issues; report problems.
• Prepare juveniles for court/hearings and appointments; conduct intake.
• Assist with meals, laundry, and basic facility maintenance as needed.
• Intervene in altercations and assist with restraints when required.
• Complete required paperwork at shift end (reports, checklists, logs).
