Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Juvenile Correctional Sergeant for the Gainesville RYDC in Gainesville, GA. You will supervise staff, ensure custody and care of detained youth, and maintain security per DJJ policies while supporting a safe, therapeutic environment.

The role requires a high school diploma/GED, six months of related experience, and Georgia POST certification within six months. Leadership Core training is required within six months, with potential to assist as Shift

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and 6 months of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer 3 (PSP222) or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain Georgia POST certification within the first six months of employment.
• Must successfully complete Leadership Core Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced within the first six months of employment; or 4 years of military experience.
• Must meet agency physical agility standards and may be required to complete a physical agility assessment.

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth per DJJ policies and SOPs.
• Complete administrative paperwork and maintain records/forms.
• Inspect and maintain security equipment to support safety and welfare of youths.
• Oversee officer activities and performance; may serve as Shift Supervisor in the absence of the Lieutenant.
