Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Officer to supervise and care for detained youth at the Washington, GA facility. You will enforce safety policies and provide structure and guidance to youth, while coordinating with a team of staff and completing administrative duties.

The role requires a high school diploma/GED and possession of, or the ability to obtain, State of Georgia POS.T certification within six months of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• POS.T certification must be obtained within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth in a secure environment.
• Maintain order through active supervision and intervention.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to detained youth.
• Supervise and plan work of assigned staff.
• Complete administrative paperwork and maintain records and reports.
• Develop work and security procedures.
• Supervise searches and inspections of contraband and equipment.
• Enforce facility policies, rules, and regulations.
• Participate in training and orientation of staff.
• Review youth information to identify issues needing attention.
