Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking an Entry-Level Highway Engineer in Boston to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects that improve safety, mobility, and accessibility.

You will work under mentorship to gain hands-on experience on highway, roadway, intersection, and traffic improvement initiatives. The role emphasizes professional development, teamwork, and technical excellence, providing a foundation for licensure and a successful engineering career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (required).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship or co-op experience in transportation or civil engineering is a plus.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of highways, roadways, intersections, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
• Develop geometric roadway designs using industry-standard engineering software.
• Support drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility coordination efforts.
• Assist with traffic analysis and transportation studies.
• Perform field visits to collect data, evaluate existing conditions, and support project development.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, surveyors, environmental specialists, and other design disciplines.
• Review construction plans and contractor submittals for compliance with project requirements.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and transportation agencies.
• Support construction phase services, including responding to requests for information and reviewing field conditions.
• Maintain project documentation and follow quality control procedures.
