Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to join our transportation team.

You’ll participate in traffic studies, data collection, signal design, and multimodal projects under the guidance of seasoned professionals, gaining hands-on experience in transportation planning and roadway design. You will contribute to traffic operations analyses, modeling, and field investigations while developing skills for a rewarding career in transportation engineering.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in civil/transportation engineering.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship or co-op in transportation/traffic engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, and transportation planning projects.
• Collect, review, and analyze traffic data, including traffic counts, speed studies, and crash data.
• Support the design and evaluation of traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, and roadway safety improvements.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and project documentation.
• Assist with traffic modeling and simulation using industry-standard software.
• Participate in field investigations and site visits to evaluate existing traffic conditions.
• Support roadway, intersection, and multimodal improvement projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, planners, clients, municipalities, and transportation agencies.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.
• Support construction-phase activities, including responding to field questions and reviewing traffic control plans.
