Job summary

Fehr & Peers in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer to develop PS&E for traffic and multimodal projects, including complete streets, signals, ITS, lighting, and pedestrian/bike infrastructure.

You will use AutoCAD and Microstation, Synchro/SimTraffic, Bluebeam, AGi32, and ProjectWise, participate in full project life cycle, and aim toward PE licensure with collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil engineering, or related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Work experience in traffic engineering design or related transportation design experience.
• Exceptional technical writing and public speaking skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation preferred.
• Openness to exploring new technologies and tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop concept designs and planning level cost estimates.
• Develop and analyze design alternatives for traffic engineering projects.
• Conduct field visits to review existing conditions and design constraints.
• Prepare design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
• Provide design support during construction (RFIs, submittals, etc.).
• Effectively communicate engineering concepts in memos, reports, and project meetings.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, technicians, analysts, and data scientists.
• Support licensure efforts toward the P.E. exam.
