Job summary

M.C. Dean, headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking a Systems Engineer 1 to join the Security and Electronic Systems unit.

The role involves designing, integrating, and maintaining software and security systems across federal, local, and commercial customers, while collaborating with cybersecurity personnel and stakeholders. The successful candidate will translate requirements into durable software solutions, participate in the full SDLC, and adhere to CI/CD and strong documentation

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering Technology or a related degree.
• 0+ years of experience in Systems/Controls engineering or related field.
• Willingness to work in a team and with customers; able to handle changing requirements and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications, services, and system integrations.
• Translate functional, business, and technical requirements into software solutions.
• Develop, test, debug, and deploy software using approved programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture diagrams, code documentation, and user guides.
• Participate in requirements gathering, system analysis, and solution design activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to ensure successful system implementation.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and support user acceptance testing activities.
• Implement software development best practices, including coding standards, version control, CI/CD processes.
• Ensure software solutions comply with cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and system vulnerabilities.
• Support software installation, configuration, upgrades, and production deployments.
• Monitor application performance and provide ongoing maintenance and technical support.
• Develop and maintain APIs, databases, and system interfaces as required.
• Participate in Agile/DevSecOps lifecycle activities.
• Coordinate with QA to ensure quality standards.
