Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer in Chicago to apply structural analysis, steel and concrete design, and materials behavior in a collaborative team focused on nuclear facilities and plant improvements.

You will develop design calculations, specifications, and drawings, while gaining hands-on experience with wind and seismic loading and advanced analysis tools. Opportunities for travel and mentorship accompany a strong start date planned for early 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural/Civil Engineering with strong materials and structural design background.
• Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
• Knowledge of loads analysis for structural supports and design integrity.
• Understand practical application of structural engineering principles to project design.
• Familiarity with structural design tools and producing technical plans/drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design.
• Work on diverse projects for multiple clients; prepare calculations, specs, and support drawing development.
• Use design tools to analyze and design steel frames, connections, concrete members, supports, and foundations.
• Conduct structural analyses including wind and seismic loads.
• Receive training and mentorship; potential travel for reviews and site coordination.
