Job summary

NYS Office of General Services (OGS) seeks an engineer to prepare structural steel and reinforced concrete designs, specifications, and cost estimates for state facilities in Albany. The role includes managing capital construction programs, updating office processes, and supervising consultant work where appropriate.

Qualifications include passing the FE exam and a qualifying civil engineering degree, with one year of related engineering experience preferred.

Qualifications

• FE exam passed and a qualifying bachelor’s degree or higher as listed, or FE plus one year of qualifying engineering experience.
• Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with concentration in one of the listed fields.
• One year of full-time engineering experience in the analysis and design of steel framing, concrete framing, foundations and seismic design.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering duties related to the preparation of structural steel or reinforced concrete designs, specifications and estimates for new construction of State facilities and rehabilitation and/or repair of State facilities.
• Assist in the management of client capitol construction programs and in the development and revision of office processes.
• May supervise consultant work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
