Job summary

NYS Office of General Services in Albany seeks an engineer to supervise and inspect mid-sized building construction projects and coordinate contractor work to meet contract specs. The role supports senior staff and may involve preparing change orders and supervising consultants.

Applicants should have FE certification with a qualifying degree or equivalent experience as described under NY HELPS, and must be prepared for travel and possess a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• FE examination passed and a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed above.
• FE examination passed and one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience.
• Resumes must include month and year for start/end dates; if part-time, indicate hours per week.
• Current NYS employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service at Grade 18+ or transfer eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Coordinate contractor operations to meet contract estimates, specs, standards, and practices.
• Assist higher level staff on larger projects.
• Recommend and prepare contract change orders.
• May supervise consultant work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
