Job summary

NYS Office of General Services (OGS) seeks qualified engineers to supervise and inspect moderate-size construction projects in Buffalo. You will coordinate contractors, ensure compliance with plans and standards, and support senior staff on larger initiatives.

For eligibility, you must pass the FE exam with an engineering degree and may have one year of related experience, or be a current NYS employee with sufficient permanent service and transfer eligibility.

Qualifications

• FE exam required with qualifying bachelor’s degree or higher.
• One year of full-time engineering experience related to construction supervision.
• Current NYS employee with transfer eligibility or permanent service at Grade 18+.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Coordinate contractor operations, ensuring conformity to contract estimates, specs, standards, and practices.
• Assist higher level staff on larger projects.
• Recommend and prepare contract change orders.
• May supervise consultant work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
