Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Staff Accountant to build foundational finance and accounting experience within a collaborative, data-driven team. The role focuses on accurate processing of financial transactions and supporting essential accounting and payment functions.

You will review payable reports, resolve discrepancies, and help with broker payments, journals, and documentation, all while contributing to internal controls and timely financial records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting concepts.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review payable reports and identify payments for processing.
• Research discrepancies (e.g., missing carrier statements).
• Prepare final payable reports and supporting documentation.
• Process customer return payments as needed.
• Prepare broker payable reports and monthly broker payments.
• Process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
• Assist with journal entry preparation and financial record maintenance.
• Maintain documentation in company systems.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve transaction inquiries.
• Support internal controls and compliance around payment processes.
• Build relationships across the organization through effective communication.
