Job summary

Hixen Search Group is partnering with a leading landscape provider to identify a staff accountant to join its accounting team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close and AP and AR.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, you will work under the controller, perform data entry, assist with financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, and support SOX compliance. The position offers solid benefits and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, journal entries).
• Knowledge of GAAP; government accounting is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting tasks, including data entry and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Support AR, including customer billing, applying payments and reconciling accounts.
• Assist with AP, including coding invoices and preparing payments.
• Complete bank and account reconciliations and record GL entries.
• Assist with journal entries, account analysis, and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Support month-end close activities, including reviewing accounts and reconciling balances.
• Assist with internal audits and compliance with SOX controls.
• Ad hoc projects as needed.
