Job summary

Astound is seeking a Junior SQL Server Database Administrator to assist in administering, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases while gaining exposure to Oracle environments.

You will work with the IT Infrastructure team to ensure database performance, availability, security, and reliability, and build a career in enterprise data management and database administration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Basic understanding of relational database concepts and database architecture.
• Familiarity with Oracle databases.
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in development, test, and production environments.
• Perform routine database administration tasks including backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
• Assist with SQL Server provisioning, configuration, and patch management.
• Monitor SQL Server performance and help identify bottlenecks or optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot SQL Server connectivity and performance issues.
• Assist with Oracle backup and recovery operations using RMAN.
• Support Oracle patching and upgrade activities.
• Maintain SQL Server security, permissions, and RBAC.
