Job summary

The Junior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) at Astound is a motivated, detail-oriented role within our IT Infrastructure team. You will assist in administering, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases while gaining exposure to Oracle environments.

You will work with the Director of IT, application teams, and system engineers to ensure performance, availability, security, and reliability across development, test, and production environments.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience with SQL Server databases
• Familiarity with Oracle databases
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux environments

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in development, test, and production environments.
• Perform routine database administration tasks: backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
• Assist with provisioning, configuration, and patch management of SQL Server databases.
• Monitor database performance and help identify bottlenecks or optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues in SQL Server environments.
• Assist with SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
• Maintain database security, permissions, and RBAC.
• Assist with administration and monitoring of Oracle databases (RMAN backups and recovery).
• Monitor Oracle health, performance, and storage utilization; assist with patching and upgrades.
