Job summary

Astound in New Jersey is seeking a Junior SQL Server Database Administrator to support, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases while gaining exposure to Oracle environments. You will work with the IT Infrastructure team and report to the Director of IT to ensure performance, security, and reliability across systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on database administration across development, test, and production, with opportunities to contribute to provisioning, patching, and upgrades

Qualifications

• 2 years or more experience with SQL Server databases.
• Basic understanding of relational database concepts and database architecture.
• Familiarity with Oracle databases.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in development, test, and production environments.
• Perform routine database administration tasks: backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
• Assist with provisioning, configuration, and patch management of SQL Server databases.
• Monitor SQL Server performance and identify bottlenecks or optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot SQL Server connectivity and performance issues.
• Assist with upgrades, migrations, and deployments for SQL Server databases.
• Maintain SQL Server database security, permissions, and RBAC.
• Support Oracle database environments and RMAN backup/recovery operations.
