Job summary

BHG Financial is seeking an early-career SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team. You will maintain SQL Server databases on-premises and in Azure, focusing on health checks, monitoring, backups, and security.

You will work with senior DBAs and other IT teams to ensure reliable database performance. The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, strong T-SQL skills, and a willingness to travel during the first 6 months.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in database administration or related tech role
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database concepts
• Working knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, execution plans, and indexes
• Understanding of database backups, restores, recovery models, security permissions, and routine maintenance
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation
• Troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze logs, alerts, and performance information
• Strong documentation, communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Travel required: first 6 months on-site travel for BHG Oars in Experience; ~5% annually after that
• Work Authorization: US work authorization with no sponsorship needed

Responsibilities

• Perform routine administration and health checks for SQL Server databases in on-premises and Azure environments under guidance of senior DBAs
• Monitor database availability, capacity, performance, jobs, and alerts; escalate complex incidents
• Support backup, restore, recovery validation, database refresh, and migrations per documented procedures
• Assist with user access, permissions, patching, maintenance, and security controls per company standards
• Use T-SQL and approved tools to gather diagnostic information and automate repeatable tasks
• Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, inventory, and operational records; collaborate with teams
• Participate in scheduled maintenance and on-call rotation as assigned
