Job summary

Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, CA, is seeking a Jr. Sous Chef to manage kitchen operations, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality menu items and proper food storage. You will coordinate purchasing, develop menus, and help maintain cost controls in a luxury hotel setting.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or equivalent, at least two years as a lead cook or similar hotel kitchen experience, and strong English communication. A Food Handler's card is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Some College or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Must have current and valid Food Handler’s card.
• Experience as lead cook or hotel culinary background preferred.
• Strong English communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of departmental policies and serve procedures; comply with standards.
• Oversee daily kitchen activity, forecasted covers, and purchasing needs.
• Review schedules, assignments, and communicate changes to staff during shifts.
• Inspect cleanliness and equipment; ensure health, safety, and sanitation requirements.
• Develop new menu items and assist catering with special menus.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff; manage performance and conduct appraisals.
• Monitor food and labor costs; minimize waste and ensure proper storage.
