Job summary

JE Dunn Construction in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Safety Specialist 1 to coordinate and implement the field safety program on routine construction projects. You will conduct inspections, ensure compliance with laws and company policies, and document findings.

Responsibilities include safety audits, new hire orientation, monitoring subcontractor safety programs, attending planning meetings, and assisting in investigations of accidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in safety/health or related field.
• 0–2 years construction or related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conducts walk-through inspections to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
• Conducts safety audits, documents findings, and recommends abatement of hazards.
• Oversees new hire orientation and drug/alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitors prime contractor and subsafety programs.
• Participates in project pre-planning and progress meetings on safety matters.
• Supports field leadership in safety program specifics and chairs project safety committee.
• Investigates accidents and works with supervisor on root causes and corrective actions.
• Coordinates with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely return to work; compiles injury reports.
• Monitors site safety incentive program.
