Job summary

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Risk Analyst (Technical Project Manager 1) to support a major national laboratory in Richland, WA. The role focuses on learning risk management practices, maintaining risk documentation, and supporting routine assessments and reporting.

The position offers mentoring and a clear development path in project risk management, with training in DOE guidelines and capital asset processes. This is a junior, growth-oriented role with structured guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of project management concepts, including scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables.
• Ability to organize information, review data for completeness and consistency, and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Assist with identifying and documenting risks that could affect project scope, cost, schedule, or technical performance.
• Work with risk owners and project team members to draft risk statements, including causes, potential consequences, and supporting assumptions.
• Update and maintain risk registers, including risk owners, probability and impact assessments, handling actions, due dates, and status updates.
• Participate in risk review meetings, document discussion outcomes, and follow up on assigned action items.
• Learn to assess risk probability and potential impacts using established criteria and guidance from experienced analysts.
• Develop an understanding of the capital asset project lifecycle, including critical decisions and how risk management supports planning, execution, and closeout.
• Learn the fundamentals of cost and schedule risk analysis, including estimate uncertainty, probability distributions, and Monte Carlo simulation.
• Assist with gathering and checking analysis inputs, running established risk models under direct guidance, and documenting assumptions and results for review.
• Prepare routine risk summaries and reporting materials using established formats.
• Identify missing or inconsistent information and bring questions or potential changes in risk exposure to senior staff for review.
• Collaborate with project managers, project controls staff, engineers, and other team members to understand project activities and support accurate risk documentation.
