Job summary

Englewood Lab is seeking a Chemist in New Jersey to support the R&D - Color team. You will analyze batches, measure viscosity, pH and density, and collaborate with supervisors to enter formulations.

The position requires a Chemistry degree and 2–5 years in cosmetic formulation, with strong color matching skills and attention to detail. Responsibilities include vendor interactions and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (or Biology with chemistry and organic chemistry classes).
• 2-5 years of experience in R&D, formulation, emulsions, and other color product formulations.
• Well organized and highly detail oriented.
• Must work well with others and communicate effectively.
• Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, production equipment.
• Strong color matching skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10-15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Analyze batches and measure physical parameters such as viscosity, pH, and density.
• Maintain a lab notebook and document results.
• Create ingredient qualitative and quantitative lists.
• Enter formulation into the company formulator.
• Review results with supervisor and collaborate on development of color cosmetics.
• Support in color matching and formulation adjustments.
• Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care and color cosmetic products.
• Ensure compliance with color regulations and internal quality standards.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and organize materials and samples.
• Interact with vendors and attend vendor presentations.
